As a consequence of international migration and border crossings, transnational families (TNF) are families whose members are physically dispersed in at least two or more countries, but maintain a sense of familyhood.
This note takes a deep dive into the conceptualisation of this broad approach. It analyses the term “family” the term “transnational”, formulate caveats of the definitions, proposes an operational conceptualisation and discusses several aspects and characteristics of TNF.
