6 September 2026: Closing Conference in Tallinn, Estonia

TraFaDy Closing Conference: Bringing Four Years of Collaboration Together

On 6 September 2026, the TraFaDy community came together at Tallinn University, Estonia, for the Closing Conference of COST Action CA21143 – Transnational Family Dynamics in Europe.

The conference brought together the knowledge, experiences and collaborations developed throughout the Action. The programme opened with a keynote by Anastassia Zabrodskaja on digital familyhood and the future of transnational family research, alongside an introduction to the TraFaDy exhibition by Heidi Martins.

Throughout the day, parallel TraFaDy Insights sessions addressed key themes that have shaped the Action, including connectivity and vulnerability, methodological and ethical challenges, care, education and wellbeing, social protection, professional practice, and policies affecting transnational families.

The conference concluded with reflections from the Working Group leaders on the key take-aways from TraFaDy, followed by “Moments, people and collaboration: The TraFaDy journey,” bringing the four-year journey of the Action to a close.

While the formal Action is ending, the conference also highlighted what remains: the connections established across countries and disciplines, the research developed together, and the collaborations that can continue beyond TraFaDy.
