Intergenerational relationships in transnational families

The summer school is designed for students, (early career) researchers, and practitioners in social work and welfare agencies. It focuses on intergenerational relationships in transnational families, a topic that is relevant to and discussed in several Working Groups of our Action. The summer school introduces participants to the topic of intergenerational relationships from a TNF lens. The theoretical foundations will be presented by TraFaDy members and local lecturers through a series of lectures and workshops. Moreover, there will be field visits of organisations working with transnational families.

Participants will be introduced to the topic of intergenerational relationships in transnational families, on a theoretical, practical and policy level. There will be exchanges between researchers and stakeholders from different countries, disciplines, and research communities on transnational families.

Target Group

• Undergraduate students (2nd, 3rd and 4th grade) of social education who want to develop a broader view on social work and counselling work with transnational families, both on a theoretical and methodological level. All students participating, will get 3 ECTS-points. In order to receive them, all parts of the programme are mandatory.
• (Young) professionals, early career investigators and practitioners from social
  work and welfare organizations.
• Researchers in the field of transnational families and the changing dynamics.
