On 16-17 June 2025 members of the TraFaDy network gathered in Lisbon, Portugal, for a joint Working Group 4 (WG4) meeting and the international conference Connected Lives: Wellbeing and Health in a Globalised World, hosted by Universidade Católica Portuguesa. This event offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on ongoing work, strengthen interdisciplinary ties, and explore pressing issues related to transnational family life and global health.
The WG4 meeting began with members sharing updates on their research and outlining priorities for the final year of the Action. The international conference brought together researchers from various fields. Parallel sessions addressed topics such as narratives of mobility, migrant health and well-being, transnational family dynamics, and the role of digital technology in integration and long-distance care.
Among the highlights were the keynote speeches by Professor Margarida Gaspar de Matos, who spoke about migrant youth, social participation and building meaningful futures, and Dr Filipa Madeira, who explored the psychosocial impacts of colonial ideologies on contemporary migrations.
Participants also engaged in a workshop on digital well-being in migrant families. A round table on well-being and transcultural communities brought together academic experts and representatives from social organisations working in migration, inclusion and health, fostering dialogue between research and practice
